More About the Founder
For the past 19 years, Jordana has been helping travellers from all backgrounds step out into the world and explore landscapes they never thought they would. Whether it was through her writing for various travel publications, including The Lonely Planet, or designing dream-worthy itineraries, travel has been a part of her identity for nearly all of her adult life.
Storied Lands Travel is a boutique travel service that was founded in 2016 with the intention providing immersive experiences for culturally curious and mindful xenophiles. But what does that mean?
A xenophile is an individual who loves foreign places, languages, customs and cultures. Over the course of her career, Jordana realized her clients were looking for ways to connect with and observe cultures and destinations at a deeper level. Her clients wanted to travel to far flung places, try new things and see the world alongside their loved ones, friends and colleagues. Jordana this by tapping into her own love affair with global culture, to create unforgettable group, family and independent experiences for starry-eyed travellers.
Jordana’s early fascination with travel and culture was sparked by a fourth-grade project about Kenya. While sitting cross-legged on the floor of her school library, surrounded by tattered old National Geographic, she learned about the Great Rift Valley and the origins of Modern Man. It was at that moment her lifelong quest to understand the human story began. Jordana fell into a career in travel in the early 2000s. In 2009, she took a sabbatical and embarked on a round-the-world adventure that took her trekking through the Sumatran jungle in search of orangutans, living with a pride of lions in Zambia (yes, really), and watching the Northern Lights race across the starry skies of Iceland.
After spending months on the road, living amongst a kaleidoscope of cultures, Jordana returned home and dove head first into an anthropology degree at the University of British Columbia. She ended up specializing in Indigenous studies and dedicated two years to learning hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓, a language spoken by the First Nations of the Fraser Valley, most notably, the Musqueam peoples.
Jordana lives in beautiful Squamish, British Columbia with her son and Australian Shepherd.
Exclusively Hosted Journeys
The Lonely Planet named Sri Lanka the world's #1 destination in 2019. In September of that year, I flew to the Pearl of the Orient, just in time for the 'Elephant Gathering.' After travelling some 2000km of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever laid eyes on it only made sense to make Sri Lanka the first destination to be offered as an exclusive Storied Lands Hosted Journey. We're departing May 2023. Let's go!
